Harry looked up as if he could see the lightening bolt on his forehead. He thought about dead-panning a line about his his parents had died the night he got that scar, but he decided that Michael didn't know him well enough to get that he was joking. He'd come to terms with his parent's death a long time ago, but it was such a practically historical event that everyone seemed to expect him still to be hung up on it.
"A lot of people want to fight for what they think is right." Harry said at last, nodding his head in agreement to what Michael Corner was saying. "But they don't always understand the sacrifices that you have to make to actually do it--they're sacrifices a lot of people don't want to make. You can't have a normal life with friends, family--"
Pregnancies, weekends away in France...
"And do this. And no, you're not going to be liked by the Ministry and hell--you won't always be liked by the people on your side because everyone thinks they know best." He looked at Michael. "That's...why I'm leaving the Resistance. It's too unorganised, everything treats it like a little club or--or like Dumbledore's Army."
"But the thing is, Dumbledore's Army was meant to prepare us for what was coming. Now, it's here and that kind of thing doesn't work, not really, and I'm not going to sit around and prove anything to anyone or simper for their trust. I'm taking this, I'm leading it and if they don't like it, whoever it is can fuck off because I really don't see what good they have been doing this far."
