daphne is not who you think (greenmum) wrote in afic,
A flash of annoyance flew threw her system that Daphne held in as much as she could, only manifesting physically with a quick glaze of her eyes before it was gone. She was very much tired of being protected and coddled because she was 'pregnant'. She was alone it was true, but she'd been living alone for years. She was not the type of woman to constantly be in a relationship, she was independent and it felt as though the addition to her body made that fact both null and void. Still, she knew it would be pointless to argue. As many times as she tried she had realized it was an old prejudice, possibly older then that of blood, and fighting it would be futile. Instead Daphne did return to her tea, not because she did not want something stronger, but because she could not have anything else.
"I do not know. My attempts to hope seem futile at worst, and nearly clingy at best; but I care about him enough that giving up seems dismal." She paused then, realizing where his train of thought was going. Her lips pulled together slightly and she gave a one shouldered shrug, focused on her tea. "That I could not say, they did not talk often that I knew about."
