The tug had been a subconscious act; if you had asked Percy he would've honestly tell you it was purely unintentional and he'd done it with the purest intentions. Which was why Percy was confused when she stopped to position herself in front of him. He had wanted to ask about her broken bone experiences, but all other questions faded when she kissed him.
Their lips met and his eyes remained open in surprise at this completely unexpected action. He felt his face grow warm as his cheeks grew warm; they blushed along with the outer shells of his ears, becoming a dark shade of pink. His first reaction was astonishment, but after a couple of moments, when it finally registered in his brain what was happening, the tension in his body relaxed as he leaned into their kiss, closing his eyes, now participating instead of just letting it happen.
And almost just as quickly, he pulled back, an almost worried expression upon his face, examining Katie's features for something, but not quite knowing what. His heart was pounding in his chest and he suddenly became aware that they were out on the street where perfect strangers, passersby, could see them in this brief moment of intimacy. Torn between wanting to continue and decorum, the latter was winning, though the struggle clearly showed in his eyes.
"I..." Percy began, but his voice trailed off, not knowing how to finish his sentence.
