Zach managed not to roll his eyes as he left them to go talk to one of the guards, trying to arrange some food and water. It cost him a pair of quidditch tickets to the guard's game of choice, which he could get through his job, but he managed to preserve his identity.
No matter how much Mandy said she wanted him in his life, and how much he stupidly still wanted her in his life, she didn't really allow room for him. That's why it felt so awkward. Because with her clinging to Malfoy and Malfoy being so damned possesive and protective of her that you'd think the child was his and not Terry's, everyone felt like a third wheel. No matter what empty words she gave him, she didn't actually seem willing to make room for him in her life. Not with the Malfoy parasite. Zacharias would remove her from his memories. It was the only way.
Returning after a few minutes with a bottle of water and a tin of digestive biscuits, he brought them over to Mandy.
"Not much, but it's what they could find," he explained.
