Who: Gabrielle Delacour & George Weasley
What: George bribes Gabby with dinner to get her to teach him how to shop for a little girl
When: Saturday evening
Where: Gabby & Emma's place, then an Italian restaurant
Gabrielle had been positively reclusive lately. She'd mostly been painting and working; she'd barely seen even her roommate. The first time she'd been "out" in nearly a month had been last weekend, with Anthony Goldstein. She'd told Anthony she'd try to spy on the Ministry, but she still wasn't sure how to go about it, or even if she could manage it. She was part-Veela, to be sure, and she could attract most men, but that didn't mean they'd start giving her secrets because she gave them a pouty smile and a come hither look. And she was not comfortable doing more than flirting, a point she'd made very clear to Anthony, in case he had any other ideas.
This at least promised to be a lighter evening, even with the added levity of George Weasley's sudden fatherhood. She liked George; she thought he'd be a very good father. But it must have been terribly overwhelming, finding out you had a six-year-old daughter you'd never known about. No wonder he was asking for help.
The place Gabrielle had chosen for dinner was a small, good Italian place that catered to families and people who liked authentic Italian, not people who wanted drippy candles and ambiance. It was quite casual, and Gabrielle had dressed accordingly, in a sundress with cute sandals, a little sweater tucked over her arm for when it got chillier. She was ready to go when the knock at the door came, and she danced over to it without turning off the radio, greeting George with a bright smile. She flicked her wand and turned it off to greet him. "Hello! How did it go with the carpenters?"
