Daphne's lips pursed together, though her eyes shown with amusement. "Mmhm. You and your large wife can enjoy yourselves while I remain trim and slender." She liked to believe she had matured somewhat and would not judge an over sized woman, particularly one married to her best mate, but Daphne also knew herself well enough to realize the thought would probably sneak in regardless. That was quickly forgotten at his mention of adoration.
"I am not sure if I should be flattered or infuriated by such a statement," pausing for a moment she then smiled and shook her head slightly against him. "As you have known me for so long, I believe I will take flattered, if not to ruin our holiday," she teased just about to turn her head back to rest against his shoulder; instead his hand came to grasp her jaw and the tone of his voice had her heart both aching and pounding all at once.
Daphne knew what he meant, she had--after all--been thinking nearly the same thing only moments ago. Blaise was the man that, for years, she had thought she would marry. It would have made her family happy if she had, especially considering her current situation. And yet, she would not have given Dean up for the world.
Which should have had her stopping Blaise as he slide closer and pressed his lips to hers. In fact she should have pushed him away even after he'd done so, but there was a sense of longing and nostalgia in the press of his mouth to hers that had her slipping her own hand to his shoulder.
Guilt welled in her as he pulled away, however; both at the fact that she had betrayed Dean and that she did not feel more upset that it had happened. Not able to say anything at his words Daphne leaned in to him, nearly burying against the curve of his neck.
