Pansy and the girls had been rather late In arriving for lunch. It was accidental. Pansy had decided to treat the girls to a morning shopping and running errands in Diagon and planned to arrive promptly for lunch with Draco and Alyssa. However, while there, she had gotten stopped by members of the DMLE who recognised her from school and told her she had to come with them. Not wanting to cause a scene or endanger her daughters, Pansy and the girls went willingly. What followed was a few hours of paperwork and arguments about the citizenship of her daughters. The Ministry wanted more proof of their parentage, not satisfied with the birth records she had provided earlier. The ministry insinuated that since the supposed dater was deceased how could they tell that pansy hadn't gotten knocked up by some ST or pureblood.
Pansy kept her wits about her and remained polite, though slightly infuriates throughout the whole encounter. She registered for the compulsory parenting classes which were apparently now law. Needless to say, it wa not how she had been intending to spend her birthday. She had been proud of her girls for how they'd behaved though, despite everything there had been few complaints about being hungry.
Lunch had been pleasant though and most of the girls seemed happy to play with their younger 'cousin' , while Jonquil toddled after them, having mastered walking over the past month. In all honesty, she hadn't. Expected Draco to remember her birthday. She wasn't sure what to make of their friendship now. So much had changed since before and the strong friendship they had over the letters seemed different now. There were also much more important things than birthdays.
"You needn't have bothered with cake, Draco, really. There's no need for such fuss."
