"We survived the war, Astoria, we can survive this mess," Terence said, although his words lacked total conviction. He hadn't seriously thought about fleeing the country, but perhaps it wouldn't be bad to make some plans in case an emergency came around. During the war, his father had possessed enough sense to hide his family away, but now Terence was beginning to feel a bit like a sitting duck. Until the danger became more clear, though, he refused to completely uproot his life like a coward.
"And we're innocent, they can't prove that we did anything untoward. We just have to continue to preserve our traditions and way of life and wade through the Ministry's phase of disapproval," he added, only leaning closer when Astoria tugged tighter. Despite all the compromises they'd made for the new Ministry, Terence would never lower himself or betray his position in society.
"I think you should stay here tonight," Terence said with a tone of finality. He didn't want Astoria to argue the point with him-- he'd worry much less if she were safely asleep in his spare room. Terence pulled back a bit to get a good look at Astoria's face. "You'll be alright with that, won't you?"
