Theo walked into the hall at a slow, dignified and measured pace with his head held high, barely glancing at the other students although he knew precisely who he was walking past. While he justified this rather slow saunter towards an empty seat to the importance of not rushing in like some ungainly Hufflepuff or overexcited Gryffindor, it was mostly because he wanted to avoid some of the girls in his house. He could banter with them seperately but together they were rather irksome and tried his patience, but then, that was how Theo felt towards most people. He was intent on sitting at a distance from them, as well as a few select social climbers.
Spotting an empty seat towards the farthest end of the Slytherin table, he promptly made his way towards it and sat down. He briefly glanced at the two younger Slytherins on either side of him. Recognising them from one of the garden parties during the summer, he felt confident they wouldn't dare attempt to speak to him. He looked across the table to see who else he would have to ignore. Noticing the students across from him, he flashed them his signature half smile, whether in friendly greeting or contempt, it wasn't quite clear, although Theo had enough respect for his fellow housemates, but he was always wary of revealing his true opinions of others. It was safer to keep people guessing.
As he poured himself a glass of pumpkin juice and tried to decide what he would have for lunch from the array of food in front of him, one of the younger Slytherins beside him uttered "you know, acting like an arrogant prat won't get you far". Theo turned to look at the younger boy, surprised at the comment. He glanced at the others sitting around him, trying to figure out who the impertinent boy was speaking to.
