It was fucking cold, dark, and one should probably not sit outside, but Harry didn’t mind, because it was starry night. Today he didn’t even have to squint his eyes to be able to see Canis Major in the sky.
It wasn’t easy living without his parents and godfather, especially not during Christmas time, but sometimes looking up at the stars eased the pain. Sirius was the brightest in the sky, always there, as if he was looking out for Harry. It wasn’t hard to imagine that his parents were there, too.
“Happy Christmas, Mom, Dad, and Sirius,” Harry whispered.

Severus had always liked stars. Not because he liked Astronomy or – Merlin forbid – Astrology, but because stars were beautiful. Yes, Severus could appreciate beauty.
The stars were exceptionally bright tonight –something the centaurs would undoubtedly comment on – but Severus enjoyment was a bit diminished. The brightest star of Canis Major was smirking down at him, mocking him. But instead of reminding Severus of Black, like it should, it reminded him of Potter. Potter, who was most likely outside right now, gazing at the star and catching his death in the cold.
