James narrowed his eyes, considering the options laid out before him. He was intrigued by the single serve types, but as delightful as they were, he enjoyed the process of making coffee. Much like Q and his loose leaf tea, James liked to measure out the grinds and carefully add the water. Listen to the water as it boiled and smell the coffee as the water dripped through.
There were, of course, still too many options. That was when his phone beeped.
It won't explode. I promise. It's only a heating element with a water basin and a section for the grinds.
James picked out a very basic model -- sleek though it looked, it had everything he wanted and nothing that he did not. Waiting for a free cashier, he typed out his response.
That is not all it was. Do not think I didn't notice that it had a timer and two extra sections. I do not want to know what you thought I needed them for, but I only want to make coffee.
He smiled at the harried cashier who looked relieved to have a pleasant customer and he was soon out the door for home.
But, first, a stop at a small shop. A new coffee maker meant new coffee grounds, after all.
