[Log] Shishido, Fuji
Date: Day 026
Rating: PG
Summary: Shishido has been called to the Turks' meeting, but Fuji isn't feeling his best...
"I don't believe this..."
Ryou Shishido stared at his phone, rereading the text message. Not an hour into Junon, and he was being summoned to a mandatory meeting. Mandatory. He wasn't going to be able to ignore it. And that lead him to a bigger problem.
Fuji was still sick. Sick enough that travel for them had been slow going. He was getting better, just not enough to do the fast traveling Shishido was going to have to do to get back to Edge in time. There was no way he was going to push the blonde to try, either.
Shit. This stupid meeting couldn't have come at a worse time.
"Syuu...we've got a problem," he said without looking up, trying to figure out how the hell he was going to explain having to leave the man behind temporarily.
Syuusuke moaned, stirring feebly, trying to make sense of where he was. Costa Del Sol? Golden Saucer...? No. They weren't even on that continent anymore, where they? They were home now. So... What...? Where?
"We... Do...?" God. Only talking made his head spin and he felt sick to his stomach.
Fuji looked green in the face and it made Shishido snap at him out of worry. "Concentrate on not puking." But he unfolded and went to sit next to the blonde, rubbing circles over his back soothingly. It seemed to help Fuji at least. "Listen...Ifrit this sucks but...dammit!" The Turk cursed when his hair tie snapped open, the thick locks of his long hair spilling over his shoulders. "Damn cheap ties," he grumbled, trying to toss the mass back off his shoulders with little effect. He was glad Chinen wasn't there to poke fun of him; he usually broke at least one a day.
The blonde did focus on that, breathing through his nose, rapidly, and soon enough he felt his stomach calm down considerably. "You still haven't made your point," he informed Shishido when he figured he had recovered enough. Okay, so maybe he wasn't delirious with fever, or he wouldn't have been able to poke a little fun at Shishido.
There was a short pause as Shishido just continued to rub his back, considering how he could put it best. He just wasn't good at tact, though, and put it out straight and blunt. "I've gotta leave you here for a couple of days."
Fuji's eyes widened. Shishido would leave? Now? When he felt like the smallest person on the planet? Oh. Fuji couldn't help it, his self control was severely lacking and so was his poker face right now, and his face fell, deflated.
"It's this stupid mandatory meeting. Something must've happened. And you're not well enough to travel as fast as I've gotta move my ass to get th--Syuu?" Shishido's diatribe trailed off, looking down at the blonde's face. "Uh...its only for the meeting. I'll come right back."
"What... What if they'll find me? I'm far too vulnerable like this." And of course he understood that Shishido had to go. Orders were orders. But... He still felt lonely. Worried. ... Scared.
"Thats why you need to be somewhere non-Shinra." Shishido said it decisively. Even the most secure Shinra facility in Junon could leak the information to SOLIDER or R&D. So it was out. Had to be. "There's a clinic outside of town. They've been working on Geostigma from what I can tell. I wouldn't leave you just anywhere, Syuu."
"Shishi..." He paused, blushing. Damn it, fever. Don't do this... "Ryou. You know... I'm scared. And... I'll miss you." What the hell was he saying? Fuji hoped he would stop sounding like a damsel in distress soon. Please. "But... Duty. You have to keep at it, or people'll get suspicious."
"Dammit, I thought your fever was going down," Shishido muttered, lifting his hand to brush the back of it across Fuji's warm forehead. He couldn't detect any changes this way, but it was better than nothing. "The Syuu I know would probably be happy to get rid of me for a couple of days." He tried to joke with what he hoped was a reassuring-looking smile.
He tried to smirk back. "Well... It would present me... the opportunity to plan out new..." He started to cough, but the fit soon subsided, even though it caused a hellish pain to explode behind his eyes. "... Ugh... Well, as I was saying. It's gonna give me the opportunity to figure out new ways to torture you~"
Shishido's face pinched with concern at the coughing fit. "I think you're doing a good job of that now. How about you work on surprising me. Like getting well enough to torture me the way you usually do, huh?"
"I can live with that." Fuji sighed, feeling how his eyelids burned his eyes when he closed them, and opened them again. Stupid... "You're not in trouble though, right?"
"Who knows. Its a mandatory meeting for all of us, so something important must be up." Though, mandatory? With all of them? Something BIG must be up for that to happen. He didn't even want to think about what shit was hitting what fan at the moment. Right now, he had to think about taking care of Fuji.
This made Fuji jump in spite of his fever and he stared at Shishido. "All of you? What, a new Weapon appeared or something like that?" Even though he said that, he had a vague idea himself of what could be going on. It had to have something to do with the developed GeoStigma and Shiraishi and probably Yuushi's insane transformation. All these factors pointed at something big being in the works. something they hadn't heard about since the Reunion. And who knew if Sephiroth was really gone? Strife probably knew, but as far as Fuji knew, the other blonde had stopped all his involvement with Shinra and Avalance and everything a long time ago. A pity... They could have needed him.
"Well, that would suck. But I doubt it. Lay back down," the Turk ordered him softly, smoothing Fuji's blonde locks from his face before rubbing his back again. "Let's just say if Hiroshi is calling me back for anything less than an all out emergency, I'm going to do some serious ass kicking right before I commandeer the jet and come back here for you."
Fuji wanted to object, wanted to get a chance to at least ruffle Shishido's hair - it was so inviting for just that - before the Turk had to leave, but his body decided to listen to reason and he found himself down on his back, blinking hazily at the long haired man. "Got it. You'd better scram then, nee?"
"Just as soon as the Doc gets here to get you," Shishido promised, busying himself with sliding the sheets back up over the blonde, trying to make him more comfortable. "Believe me, I'd rather stay here with you...oh, and I'm leaving you my spare cell, okay? If you need me for anything, dial 1. I programmed it for my other cell. Got it?"
"Got it. But since the meeting seems important, I'll only call you if there's an emergency. What would count as one for you, Ryou?" And there he was again, using Shishido's first name. Stupid fever couldn't make him remember that he ought to just keep to pet names, since they enervated the Turk.
"If anyone's sniffing around the clinic that looks like Shinra, you're in danger, or you get worse," Shishido listed. "And no trying to get up to take care of 'Fly. They'll take care of him 'til you're well enough to get up, hear me? I don't wanna come back and have to kick an invalid's ass, you know. I'll look lame."
"We can't have that, can we," Fuji grinned through the thin film of cold sweat that covered his face. "Got it." He couldn't help but tease Shishido a little however. "But what if it's a danger I think I'm capable of taking care of myself?"
"Just remember to tell yourself you're an idiot and call me instead," Shishido instructed firmly. "There is no danger you can take care of right now. Just get it through your head for at least one day. The most you could do to an enemy right now is barf on his shoes."
"For some, I'm sure that's enough." Fuji smiled dryly. "It's quite the disgusting imagery, don't you think?"
"I managed," Shishido grinned back at him. "And you ruined a very nice pair of shoes on the way here," he teased.
"Thank you for reminding me," the Ex-SOLDIER said with a crooked eyebrow. "Just what I wanted to hear before you leave."
"Maybe I'll give them to Tezuka as a present?" Shishido's eyes glinted with a wicked merriment, looking for just one smile out of Fuji before they had to part.
That smile he got and Fuji shook his head, exasperated. "Do that and I'll never talk with you again. It's all up to you if you can live with that, of course~"
"Peace and quiet? How would I ever deal with that again?" Shishido leaned over him, smirking and laying a hand over Fuji's. "Just get better, Syuu. You're not half as annoying when you're sick," he joked, when the knock on the door came. "Guess that's my cue....," he sighed.
Fuji's face fell ever so slightly and he nodded, trying his best to make himself comfortable against the pillows. "Have a safe journey."
"Its me, isn't it?" Shishido grinned back at him, digging out a hair tie and slapping his hair up into another ponytail as he left.
"That's what worries me," Fuji grinned bleakly, waving at Shishido's retreating back before he fell back down against he pillows, exhausted.
