Eragos was trying to get her to follow the ways of Priests. An old heavy battered Priest of Armas had taken her by her ear out into the courtyard and made her scrub the stones with a rough brush while reciting at the top of her lungs 'If I cannot think of anything nice, I will not say anything at all'. She must have screamed it until she was hoarse at least a hundred times over her years at the temple. It never stuck because it really was easier work to do, and it kept her away from the other annoying children. It worked well with people outside of the temple as well. If she wanted people to shut up, or explode in anger she'd do exactly what she always did. Crude words, twisted smile, and it got here this. Eragos was probably an inch from throwing his inkwell at her, and Vargis was gasping for air every three seconds. Beautiful.
Eithne took another puff of her cigarette and let the smoke linger between her open lips for a second before sucking it in. She had nothing nice to say. She had nothing civil to say. She opened her mouth, decided against it, and closed it again. Nothing at all.
Not to mention he'd called her a 'girl' again. Condescending tone and all. Eithne rolled her eyes and sat so far back in her chair that it tipped back on two of it's legs and thudded against the wall behind her. There she sat balancing her weight and trying very hard, but failing miserably, to look smug.
"I have nothing to say then." Eithne said, Eragos seemed to stiffen visibly at this. He wanted impressions.
"She doesn't seem to like following other peoples rules, and if she's a 'proper lady' I will eat my saddle." Eithne crossed her arms. He was still waiting.
"She's acting like someone who is either looking to rob someone blind, or trick someone. I don't know, it's like she wants everything to go wrong with the way she's behaving. Going off in the open where she could be killed. Hiring white riders to be more obvious. Being blatantly rude to the man we met. They had an agreement and she did not meet it on purpose. She stalled for a reason. But if you're asking for an answer you're looking in the wrong place. She acts exactly like a common.." She closed her mouth before she could say what she wanted to say.
Because it wasn't civil and because Vargis was going to choke to death if he couldn't breath.
