Behind the Lady Areinh's back Eithne mockingly made hand gestures of boring talk and blah blah blah. Vargis was about the only funny thing around to keep her company. Eragos was good for a laugh when he was in a good mood, and since they'd had a good number of adventures under their belts his mood was better around her. But really, Vargis was hilarious a lot of the time and this place was really fucking cold and she needed that burst of warmth which flooded her when she felt like laughing. Laugh she did not, at least right now. Instead she'd buy her time and focus on the task at hand. Very cold. She pulled the furs closer and tried to keep herself awake while listening to the conversation at hand.
Eithne wanted a fight as much as she wanted a drink. A fight would bring warmth back to her far faster than a laugh was going to. She knew there had to be a fight. A Lady off in the mountains with an armed guard meant there had to be a fight. She always wanted a fight. Always. There was nothing better than a little blood in your mouth and a the sting in her hands. Nothing better, well, maybe a warm bed, company, and a belly full of good ale or better whiskey. But a fight was what she was going to get out here. They certainly wouldn't let her wonder off and have a good time, now would they?
She knew that wanting a fight was something Eragos would find foolish and childish. But she'd lived her whole life fighting. Fighting to get to the top of something. Fighting to have food to eat, and ale to drink. Fighting to keep everyone alive wasn't on her list of things to do, but fighting to keep money in her pocket was. So here she was. And here they were. Freezing on the back of horses which should have been warmer but were not. Listening to the woman complain about Vargis again.
Bring on the bandits. Bring on the bandits. Bring on the bandits. Eithne said over and over and over again in her head. Hoping that thinking it would bring them into existence. Another look over her shoulder, another eye on the horizon. Nothing. Just more cold mountain air.
"Poor you." She said quietly, and hopefully her mocking tone wasn't heard by the lady, but right now an argument was as good of a fight as she was probably going to get.
