"I'll take him directly to her then, Captain," Ithacles said to Baldvas. He left no room for negotiation, since truly there was none. Lethe may have been the more cunning of the two when it came to policy and compromise, but she didn't leave the castle often enough to have the same authority out there in the real world.
"Looking sharp. Maybe Ithunvel will make you tax collector."
"A nice vacation that would make," he intoned as dry as a mouthful of crackers. "This is Captain Uthral. Try to be polite to her; she regularly kills things."
With that he turned to the small jailor.
"Prepare his release papers and I'll see to them on the way out; and many thanks. I'll see to it that the quality of your establishment is known to His Majesty."
He eyed Baldvas after that. He had little experience with the man. It was simply a function of his station that he remembered his name. There was something off though with this group, and he couldn't help but feel that they'd arrived at exactly the right moment to save Skandra's hide.
