The cool air of the lawns felt amazing against her skin after the workout she'd just had. Most of the time her lessons were in more private rooms within the castle but Lord Ithunvel thought it was time that she learn to be more of a moving combatant. The great lawns of the Falcon's stone proved to be quite a match for her. She could run, tumble, and be free enough without running into someone, especially when their area had been cleared of all other soldiers. Stretching her legs somewhere besides within the castle itself was a brilliant thing. But as happy as she was she was also quite grief stricken.
They'd stood in the shadow of the mountains. Where everything she knew was lost and gone for good. It moved her to tears when she sat looking at them at night from her window. But as her instructor constantly yelled to her to focus, the more Vedette had. The name was still alien to her, so used to being call Iluq, but no one called her that anymore. Not even Lord Ithunvel himself. Hours rolled past, before she was told that the lesson was done. the next few would be on the lawns as well, and eventually she would be taken into the mountains to roam during the snowy seasons. Something that was very easy for her to do.. but not something she did as a human that often. So it was needed.
Vedette had parted ways with her instructor and started back for the castle. Her eyes turned towards the mountains. Her coat, which she'd taken off because she was hot, was thrown over her shoulder. The silver buttons and emblems were polished to a fine sheen. She had no use for either, but it was a way to keep others from looking at her too long. Her rank rose by the week now, surpassing most of the other few students. She watched the mountains far too much, hoping to see some sign of a dragon there. A hope that she'd held in her heart for a year. And yet...
She knew she was the last. It was heartbreaking.
Suddenly she slammed right into something, or rather, someone and found herself on the ground, her jacket lost in the collision. Vedette laid there, dumbstruck for a moment. She regained what sense she had, and realized who it was she ran into. She immediately tried to apologize, but her words were more jumbled than a drunken dwarf trying to speak elven. "Prince Ithacles! I ran I didn't mean you are I'm sorry I should have the mountains were looking!" She took a deep breath, and palmed her forehead suddenly.
"I mean. I'm sorry I should have been watching where I was going instead of looking at the mountains." If Lord Ithunvel had been watching, he probably would have laughed. Vedette had only saw the prince from afar, and hardly close enough to ever say hello. He'd been here and there, and away, and back. She had never been formally introduced, she didn't even know if he knew who she was and there she went, running right into him.
Her embarrassment was showing plainly on her face.
