"Okay...Tom." She handed him her glass of water that she had just poured. "Here, have this. I haven't had a drink out of it yet. I poured it right before you knocked."
For a few moments, she just ignored him and stared at him. He was gorgeous. She shook herself out of it. "Oh. A care package? That was...very...thoughtful of you." If he was going to show up, he could at least have something better to offer than a frakking care package. She hid her disappointment as best she could. Perhaps she could persuade him to give her something better.
"Oh, uh, thanks." Nice belly? Oh, great. I'm a pregnant teen, and he still thinks I'm a child. Still, what kind of man comments on my belly?! "I'm due near the end of May. David thinks I should get to a doctor, but I think I'm fine. The doctor didn't do much when I was in Canada. To see a doctor would require me to head to a more populated area anyway, and I came here to get away from most people. I would have thought that a soldier would be honorable, but I guess they're all just out for a good time, damned the consequences, not that he's having any. Oh, present company excluded, of course. Oh! I'm babbling again."
She rocked a little to stand up. "Would you like anything to eat?" She picked up the pack and took it to the kitchen. This was about all that she had to eat now, but she would not let him know that.
