"Were you and Tom ever...? And yes, I live in Ackennestock up on the border of Cobb and Cherokee Counties. That's where I was when Tom came: at my family's home. I really was fine there; the neighborhood was deserted. He didn't have to 'come save me' or anything. I only wrote to him because David, this nice mailman who knows my older sister, worried over me and was afraid that someone would come up on me in the neighborhood. Adirondacks?"
She bit her bottom lip as Sonya despaired of their situation. "Bargaining chip? What's wrong with his knee? He didn't mention anything wrong with his knee before." Or did he? Well, Brook couldn't remember if he had or not, so she went with that he hadn't told her. "I don't mind men in uniform," she assured with a smile. "In fact that's how I got in this situation." She nodded down to her belly. "An ultrasound would be good...I haven't had one in awhile. I probably should have. Maybe I can know the baby's gender now." Without really thinking about it, she added, "If it's a boy, maybe I'll name him Thomas after his father."
She looked around the area. "I don't need a big living space...but if I can be near Tom, I'd like that. Er, I guess I shouldn't be demanding. Beggars can't be choosers, after all. Are there many people here? Oh! I need a bathroom."
