Time Jump - Fandom - The Grim Excitement of Tim Burton
The desolate fog outside is gone, replaced by yet another strange looking forest- this one, however, unlike any the guests had ever seen. The trees are bare of leaves, and almost every single one identical to the smallest detail. With straight trunks and skeletal branches jutting up to an orange sky, but never touching, and housing no wildlife or sounds of insects, stuck in a perpetual state of either sunrise or sunset, it seems otherworldly. Almost manufactured. The hotel itself sits in the middle of the forest, which is very easy to get lost in, given the lack of landmarks. There is only one path, leading directly away from the hotel. It ends at a circular grove of trees a mile into the woods. Those trees are the only ones different from the rest of the forest. Facing the circle they themselves make, on each trunk is a painted door large enough for a normal man to squeeze through- there are six total, each door in a different shape.
There is a Christmas Tree, a Turkey, a Heart, an Easter Egg, a Shamrock, and a Jack O Lantern. Once a guest opens a door, they are immediately sucked into a dark void within the tree- no one can resist this void. After free-falling for a few seconds, the guest lands (roughly, but not enough to injure) in the center of a similar grove, except the circle of doors is gone, replaced by one that looks remarkably like the Hotel itself. This door will return the guest to the forest with the Hotel. Remember not to stay out too long.
Each door leads to a world where every day is lived in preparation for the holiday the door represents: the Jack O Lantern leads to Halloween Town (ie Nightmare Before Christmas). The Turkey leads to the (usually) peaceful celebration of unification between Pilgrim settlers and the Native tribes that feed them. The Heart leads to what one might consider a Theme Park directed only for the entertainment of lovers (yes, you can have fun with this), the Easter Egg leads to a cozy country village in the height of Spring, bedecked in flowers, cakes, candies, and nearly overrun by baby animals of every kind. The Shamrock leads to the land of Nod, where all the creatures of Irish myth dance and sing and drink. Of course, the Christmas Tree leads to Santa's village at the North Pole, where the elves are putting the finishing touches on everything before Christmas.
Mod Notes: This fandom jump is geared toward Tim Burton more than just Nightmare Before Christmas, in the fact that we are not going to try and mix claymation
into the confusion. The forest and the holiday worlds are NOT claymation, as in the movie, but are as real as you can imagine a high-budget live-action movie might make them.
Guests that enter holiday doors are automatically Tim Burtonized on their way through the void; imagine your character in a live Tim Burton film (Sweeny Todd, for example)- that is how they are dressed, their hair done, ect, for as long as they are in the holiday world,
only to return to normal when they go back to the hotel forest.
This plot will be a normal in-game week like the rest, but will be available for play until Monday, January 1st. There will be no plot updates over the holidays. This is to give folks time to concentrate on RL in this busy time of year.
