Hi there!
Not sure if anyone still reads this, but here goes:
My handle is yaoifreakbeat, and am a woman in her mid-40s living in Florida with her boyfriend and cat.
My interests are a bit lengthy, sorry! So, I've placed them under a cut:
Reading, knitting, yard/estate sales/flea markets/thrift stores, writing (fanfiction and branching out into original), exercise/fitness (am working on losing weight and getting into shape with vintage exercise videos from 80s/90s - so fun!), yaoi manga/anime (not as much as I used to be, but still like to read it once in awhile), tarot and oracle decks and other metaphysical stuff.
Authors I love include Elizabeth Berg, Alana Fairchild, Jane Roberts, Carlos Castenada, Mary Summer Rain, L.M. Montgomery, Jamie Sams, Anton Chekov, E.A. Poe, Ambrose Bierce, HP Lovecraft, Mary Roberts Rhinehart, Diane Stein, Brenda Ueland, Silver Ravenwolf, D.J. Conway, Shakti Gawain, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Fumi Yoshinaga, Higashi Nishida. Also enjoy vintage gothic suspense novels from the 60s and 70s.
Movies/TV shows; MST3K, Rifftrax, Cinematic Titanic, PreCode movies (LOVE PreCode!), B-movies from the 50s-70s, silent films, gothic horror (so anything with Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Peter Lorre, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff).
Music, I like psychedelic 60s/early 70s prog - I love discovering obscure bands from these eras, as there's always something interesting :) Also am re-discovering old-school industrial and synth-pop (Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, Ministry, other 80s new wave/post punk, PIL, Violent Femmes), classical (Anton Bruckner, Claude DeBussy, Erik Satie, Vivaldi, Bach, Chopin), also dig old-school hip-hop.
Fandom-wise, I'd say Harry Potter (movies), Star Wars, As the World Turns (Luke/Noah, Luke/Reid sagas - does this fandom even still exist?), Captain Tsubasa (soccer anime). While I'll have fanfiction posts, these will be under a specific filter (so if you're not into fandom, no worries, you won't have to see these). I had a lot of fun in the fanfic community back in the day - loved the writing prompts/challenges. Would like to get back into that, maybe.
Politics-wise, it's all Bee Ess to me, so it doesn't matter to me which side of the aisle you're on. What matters is if you're a good person and we click. As long as you don't proselytize, I'm fine. Ditto for religious beliefs (or lack thereof).
I would prefer people closer to my age, as I think we'd have more in common, but it's definitely not a deal-breaker if you're not.
