Characters: Leon Beery & Samantha Capper
Setting: Tuesday afternoon, during a free period before 7th year Charms
Rating: Probably PG. If Leon's mouth runs away with him, I'll edit to PG13.
Summary: Earlier in October, Samantha got humiliated by Peeves. Later in October, Leon got the heavy end of some Head Student duties. This is their "WHY DO WE HAVE TO SUFFER THROUGH THIS? WE'RE GOOD PEOPLE!!!" chat.
Status: Incomplete.
He'd always known that a points loss for multiple students from the same house wouldn't be a popular decision, but the fact that some of the littler Hufflepuffs had had the cheek to glare at him in the corridor was hardly making him happier.
Thing was, he knew it had been the right thing to do. Throwing a single egg (or two) at one person? That was a prank. Mean, and deserving punishment, but a prank nonetheless. When students from several houses were involved, not to mention damage to student property and minor injuries, and the miscreants being out of bounds? The Professors had to know, and it wouldn't have been right to keep the information from them. What if one of the Hufflepuffs had fallen or otherwise come to harm up there? What if school property had been damaged in the mean time? Leon was many things, but heartless he was not. The last thing he would want under his Head Boyship was someone coming to severe harm or being blamed for something serious they did not do. He had made the right decision, and it was for the best. People would grow up and see that in the end.
Still, it wasn't exactly much consolation to him at this point. Leaving his dorm, where he had been to get his stuff for final-period Charms, he wandered aimlessly for a bit, thinking of how to occupy himself. He chose to head to the Great Hall, which was always fairly quiet when students weren't preparing for mealtimes. It was barely occupied at all. A couple of people had a chess board laid out on the Gryffindor table, but that was about it. Perfect.
The tall blond sat down at his usual spot, half-way along the Ravenclaw table. Putting his bag down next to him, he pulled out the insulated metal travel mug that had been a back-to-school gift from his father, went to fill it at a water fountain, and sat himself down again. As footsteps approached him, he kept his head down and heated the water with his wand, before throwing a teabag and milk powder in too (when he travelled around, even in school, he went prepared). He finally looked up when he'd tidied and put away the packets, and saw a familiar face.
