It hadn't occurred to Barney to worry yet about who he was going to ask to the dance - and a worry it was going to be. He was not the smooth kind of guy who could just ask a girl. The whole asking side of the ball made it almost worth not having. Stella might well be one of the girls he would consider, though, although he would generally assume she would find a date pretty quickly, as she was rather popular.
He watched her dance her way around the box. It didn't look too difficult. Although not the brightest of the bunch, Barney wasn't clumsy and generally had a good command of his body - it was part and parcel of being sporty. He waited until she had finished demonstrating and then stepped up to the box himself and completed the steps. He may have stumbled over a couple of the steps, but in the main he performed them accurately. After doing the box a couple of times he even managed to do it without looking at his own feet. Barney grinned at Stella.
