"Yeah, I'm sure," he said, trying not to look at her. Part of him was afraid of what his reaction would be like if he looked her in the eyes at this very moment and find himself looking at her in a different light. That would ruin everything.
He took a deep breath. His Gryffindor side might have been failing him at that moment, but even so he knew he couldn't avoid the unavoidable.
"You..." He hesitated. Another deep breath. "I mess up everything when it comes to girls and relationships, and all that stuff."
There. He finally said it. He had never wanted to admit it, but deep inside he knew it was true.
"You know that better than anyone," he continued. "So why me? You're too smart for that."
