Characters: Stebbins, Stella Fawcett
Setting: Hogwarts
When: Friday! (backdated)
Summary: There's no stammering, blushing or beating around the bush when Stebbins wants to ask a girl out.
Status: Incomplete
Stebbins was of the opinion that if you were going to ask a girl out, you jolly well had to do it properly. When you were asking a girl to something as glamorous as a ball, you had to push the boat out, too, which was why Stebbins hadn't been able to do it earlier. This was an operation that needed planning and a little more effort than he usually put into anything school-related.
He had sent Stella the first rose that morning, delivered by the smallest, cutest little owl in the owlery. The rose was red, long-stemmed and charmed not to wilt, and Stebbins had felt really rather proud of himself when he'd watched her receive it. Attached to the rose had been a note, or rather a clue. This led to another rose and another clue, dotted around the castle in hiding places designed to appeal to both Stella's romantic side and her Ravenclaw curiosity until she found the eleventh rose and the final instruction which told her where and when she would complete the dozen.
Stebbins had the twelfth rose and he waited for her in a secluded alcove in the library. If anyone could figure out where to go when simply given a time and a shelf reference number, it was sure to be a girl as sharp as Stella. The only unknown factor was whether Pince would interrupt; any one who knew Stebbins knew that he was something of a stranger to the library.
