Victoire's kitchen was incredibly fancy, Dominique mused, not for the first time, as she poured herself a glass of white wine. Everything about Vic and Teddy's flat was fancy, actually. Honestly, who needed a two-story flat in London? (Vic did.) And who could afford it? (Teddy and Victoire could.) She wondered if Vic even knew what half the gadgets in this room did, but she wasn't going to ask lest she actually get some sort of lecture about kitchen tools; she got enough of those from Alfie's family members.
She slid into one of the stools on either side of the island worktop and suppressed a groan. She'd almost been thrown through a wall three nights earlier by the illegal cave troll that the potion ring she'd been helping to raid had had guarding their supply. Deputy Director Flint had been a real unsympathetic prick about it, too.
"What time did you say Louis was getting here?" Victoire asked, re-entering the kitchen, having popped out for a quick Floo call with her rockstar husband who was in South America for two weeks for a quick tour. Vic, of course, looked like an absolute vision in nothing but skinny black trousers and a white t-shirt; Dominique shook out her hair a bit, hoping it'd settle nicely.
She waved her hand. "I don't know. When he enters the world of the living, I suppose. He's been back from school for thirty-six hours or something, and you remember how NEWTs are."
"Let me see it again," Vic said, grabbing her sister's waving hand and flipping it over to admire the shiny adornment on the ring finger. She beamed. "He really did such a good job, didn't he?"
"Yeah, he did," Dominique agreed, smiling a bit goofily at the ring (she couldn't seem to stop, even four months later). "He's alright, really."
