"Better than a jerk," he answered, chuckling, before staring at Bucky. He shook his head slowly. "No, I think we've always done things the right way. It's just that others don't understand what the right way is. So it's really their fault, not ours." He believed that wholeheartedly, because they had always fought for what was right. "If it were up to me, I wouldn't leave to begin with, but unfortunately the world keeps knocking on our door." It wasn't the first time that he'd said those words, usually a joke at the end of a hard day, but he realized that he meant it now. "I love you." It wasn't a new realization, but it never failed to surprise him that he hadn't seen it sooner. "You're the only person who makes me want to do nothing."
He sighed at the description. "But we went to other realities where people didn't see you as the enemy, but Necrohelm touched you. In all the other ones, there was always something that bothered you: class differences, the cold, concentration camps. Maybe this will be like Necrohelm." And Steve would stop complaining, because if Bucky could find a place where he fit, he wouldn't ruin it for him. He was also not going to mention the killing, because Steve was well aware that he could keep his moral ground, because there were people who were willing to kill for the common good. Not that he hadn't done it himself in the past.
Approaching Bucky, he took the clothes that Bucky had picked. "I don't mind if you overhear my thoughts either. I'm not exactly the secretive type.,' he said with a smile. "But let's avoid a diplomatic nightmare, which would make convincing these people to work with the other species even harder." he put the clothes on. "You know we will have to use them with others. Even asking for the rooms required me to have that thing on."
Steve laughed. "I'm sorry, this is what talking about magic does to me. I can't talk properly. I mean that the arm is mechanical, although I'm pretty sure that I can take her," he said with a wink. "That sounds good, and I'm actually looking forward to learning from her, too. We can be trained, but she grew up as a mermaid. She'll know things that are instinctual."
