"I don't need nor want those stars," he said, grinning. "The stars stay with the stripes on the flag and not on my collar. Generals are never really in touch with people, so I'd pay attention with that." He nodded. "I'm not even sure it's confused by people as much as it can't see them past whatever mission it has planned."
He could understand that. "People are always the problem and the objective. Being a General detaches you from the people you lead. I know we're joking about my title, but Captain doesn't feel so far removed, but look at what happened. We still have three people who left, and that's on me. It's always on me, because I'm in charge, but there's a point where you have to balance the interests of the people with being liked. So yes, I can understand the spot he's in."
He snorted. "Shocked to hear that. I really had no idea," he said with a shake of his head. "I assumed that the machines themselves were not sentient, but directed by some central CPU, but all right, sentient, but not sapient." he thought for a moment. "That must be scary to people, because they can look like humans and be incredibly stronger. People weren't too happy with me and those like me in my world." he couldn't even imagine what it'd be like with machines. "All right, so we see if she'd like to kill anyone, and then you can tell me if you agree with my assessment." He stopped and pointed to the wall. "And that's where you'll find the food."
