James wasn't totally sure he wasn't more confused following Malfoy's explanation. What did Greyback have to do with anything, for one thing, and why were they having to get talked out of Azkaban? When he thought about his conversation with Ginny, it wasn't much better. James frowned, still staring across at the blonde man through the gloom.
"Maybe this is part of a longer chat," he finally settled on. "You know, not at 2am or whatever time it is. But I'm glad you two aren't secretly out to murder each other or anything."
He supposed that was a minor miracle, considering the Malfoys in his own time. Not that he had much to do with Lucius these days, both in and out of his mask.
Well, not these days. Those days, maybe. But that opened a whole new can of flobberworms relating to that chat with Ariel, and Merlin knew he didn't have space in his head for that right about now. There was a thudding noise from somewhere in the shadows, and James' attention snapped immediately across to Moony. Satisfied, he turned back to Malfoy's pale gaze.
"Don't know if any of our lives are intertwined like they were these days," he said. "You any happeer about the bus thing?" You had to be living under a rock (which James had been, for a time) to miss how unimpressed Draco Malfoy had been about the whole situation.
