Ariel/Abigail
"I did some wrong things too." Abigail said, deciding it was alright to admit to it, since Ariel had first. "It sounds like you had an amazing dad." Her own father had been good once, before he became the shrike. "Sometimes, that's all we can do, right? Try to learn from the bad stuff." She wasn't sure that was possible either. One could hope to break cycles though.
Abigail nodded. "I'm okay. It's just..I've done things in the past that weren't brave. Things I'm not proud of." She thought for a moment. Hope was all they had, really. It was what helped to get her through. At the same time, it could lead to disappointment. "Yeah, and maybe they'll come up with some kind of therapy too."
"We'd need to find a place where they can feel safe." Abigail said. That was the first step to being really, truly free. "I wonder if others are thinking about the long term too." It felt more like they were taking things one step at a time. Doing more might only be a dream.
Abigail gave a small squeeze in return. "I'll try. I've never been a hero. I'm not special."
