Re: Steve/John
"You kinda do," John pointed out. That was part of the mission, after all. Get Derek and the others back to basecamp. John might know where the camps were in his 2027. But, they probably weren't the same ones in this 2022.
"Used to be you could see the sign from here on a super clear day," he replied so quietly anyone but Steve Rogers wouldn't have been able to hear it. It wasn't a bad plan, though. Normally, you'd have to watch out for the HK-drones. But, if they made a lot of noise, metal would focus there instead. There was also a road that led right down into Griffith Park and from there they could scatter across the Valley if they had to, or access the old Red Line tunnels. "Time travel is classified. Unless it's drastically different here, he won't have been told." Yet. Not until he was sent back, not even when Kyle was sent back. "But...I may be able to convince him."
Breathing a sigh of relief, he nodded. Good. No one would be left behind. And, at least that cleared up the question of Strange's magic after all the mixed signals when they arrived. "No, that makes sense. I just didn't realize we'd finally figured out if his magic was feasible or not, yet. So, what you need is a diversion to keep them occupied. Pretty much the only thing likely to distract this much metal that long is something with a big boom."
