Re: Steve/Stephen
Stephen considered the situation. If he was going to try using his magic, it might make more sense to try it in a more open space than within the confined area of the barracks. It might give him a bigger reaction window, too. He evened his breathing and turned his awareness inward locating the kundalini center at the base of his spine. To channel the energies of entities and dimensions, one first had to connect with one's own. He opened the point of connection and reached out for the eldritch. It answered, softly flowing into him and moving to settle in his hands. Paralysis eased and tremors ceased and Stephen almost grinned at the familiar response.
Then, several of the large robot overseers stopped what they were doing and turned towards him, staring. No, not staring, Stephen realized, scanning.
He severed the connection. The robots continued to star at him. Stephen bit the inside of his cheek to stop from reacting visibly to their attention even as the shaking returned to his hands. After what felt like hours had passed, the robots turned away and went back about their business.
"There's your answer," Stephen said to Steve. "They may not detect eldritch energy itself, but they can pick up on changes in my physiology when I access that energy. And that's without the sparks and bright orange lights announcing the spells."
