We honoured them by not letting them be wasted. We butchered them for meat, including offal. We made rugs from hides, plumbing putty, knives and tools from bones, used sinew for sewing, etc. They were always with us in a way. I hope that doesn't come across as too creepy. It was normal for us. I agree about that. A lot of bad things happened back home, but I still find a comfort in things that are familiar.
