Re: Sirius & Loki: 9:10pm, balcony.
“People don’t always make it easy to be good to them,” Sirius said, his words precise but his tone idle. He could guess which friend of Theo’s Loki had an unpleasant run-in with, but he didn’t ask for confirmation; it was none of his concern. “I know who you are, but I like my mythology, and I like my tricksters. British Wizardry society skews more towards the Greek and Roman mythos, I suppose because we came to them through the stars, and there’s not many stars named for the Norse gods.”
The way Loki phrased it - special, but interesting would do - made Sirius grin faintly. It was the kind of thing he would have said about James, or himself. “Suppose I’ve time to revise my assessment on him from interesting to special.” A thought occurred to him, and he glanced back over to Loki. “As a friend, obviously. I have a way about me that can set people on edge, hence the clarification.” It seemed only smart to clarify his intentions, given that Loki was not just romantically entangled with Theo but Loki. Not someone Sirius wanted to be on the wrong side of.
At Loki’s final declaration, Sirius nodded as if this made complete sense. “It was like that for me with James,” he said, and with a casual twist of his wand formed a brief picture in the air of James’s face so Loki would know him. “It’s platonic in our case, and he’s married with a baby - my godson - so that’s different, as well, but the principle’s similar.” I would lose my mind without him and his wife Sirius thought, and did not say, not when he knew that in at least one universe that is exactly what happened. “You’ll have a vested interest in figuring out how the bus works to ensure you can stay with your fella, then?”
