Re: Ariel/Mac/Merrin
“I know technically that marshmallows are mostly sugar, but they are just disgusting,” Mac both laughed and grimaced at the same time. “I mean, try them if you want, but if you’re asking my opinion, they’re gross.” Mac listened to Ariel and couldn’t help but agree. She’d never been able to talk to animals, but she’d always known that they had thoughts and feelings like every other being on the planet. How could they not? “I’ve always been of the mind that if you don’t have to kill to eat, you shouldn’t,” Mac added. “I’m lucky enough to be from somewhere where that’s possible, so I don’t.”
With a laugh, Mac agreed. “Speed is a fun movie. But I think I prefer a healthy mix of sitting and watching movies and spending time like this, with good friends. I think a lot of people don’t have that kind of balance”
Mac couldn’t help but frown at Ariel’s description of a husband. It felt very 1950’s housewife and it was the kind of thing that had never mad sense to Mac. “You know, that was a very common belief about husbands and wives where I’m from before I was born. Actually, it’s not exactly uncommon still, but it’s getting better. I just never understood why a grown adult needed to be taken care of. Marriage should be an equal partnership where you both work towards a life you both want.” She smiled then. “Well, I’m sorry things didn’t work out as you hoped, but I’m glad you’ve figured out what you do want.”
