Re: James & Stephen
James looked down at the suddenly-skates, impressed. He'd always been a dab hand at transfiguration (Thank bloody Merlin, or he'd probably still have antlers), but even then he needed a wand for anything decent. He supposed he should really get used to all the different types of magic in this place, but it still managed to get him every time.
"Nice," he commented, one eyebrow quirking. James hadn't actually been planning on getting on the ice, but that little fact was momentarily forgotten - as so many things often were - in the face of perfectly decent wiandless magic. Not to mention, he was definitely not about to be shown up by a bloke with silver in his beard. It was bad enough when Moony got one over on him.
"I'll give it a shot," he shrugged. "Why not? Would you mind, though?" He nodded to his own boots. "I need a wand for transferring anything bigger than a paperclip, and I've only got this one on me." James pulled the roughly cut Necrohelm wand from his pocket, twirling it deftly between his fingers with an disparaging look. "I got it in Necrohelm and, honestly, it's just as likely to turn them into flippers."
