Admittedly, Sabrina had no idea that the hound was refraining from licking her out of politeness. All things considered she just assumed he might be sensitive to the smell of the bond she had with her familiar — especially since she was damn near certain that the dog was someones' familiar as well — and most dogs that weren't hellhounds seemed to dislike that faint brimstone scent that seemed to cling to Salem.
Watching from her periphery when she saw Snuffles approaching Salem, she did her best to pretend she wasn't nervous about how her familiar might react. Feeling Snuffles' disbelief made a smirk settle on her lips, Sabrina's natural inclination towards cheekiness resulting in her winking at him. She was an open book when it came to her life. It was much easier to just lay it all out there instead of waiting for people to start asking questions. Besides, despite how powerful she was, Sabrina was still very much just an eighteen year old whose life experiences paled in comparison to the bullshit she dealt with over the past two years. Sabrina wanted desperately to comment on the various human-like behaviours her new friend was displaying, but recognized that what — or who — ever the dog truly was, being a hyper-aware semi-human reacting dog was probably more comfortable for him. It reminded her of her friend Theo from home, and how they felt more true to themselves being a Theo instead of a Susie.
While seeing Snuffles stand on his hind legs and place his paws on the table might cause a person to be concerned that the dog was about to ruin all their hard work, Sabrina didn't appear to be worried. Instead, she explained what she was doing. "I got this dirt back on Necrohelm, and I could tell it had magical properties. I'm just not sure what those properties are..."
She wished that she had reached out to Remus to let him know that she was going to be in the workshop today. He didn't give off any weird vibes over the network, nothing to make Sabrina think that he was secretly a serial killer in disguise at least, but the stubborn part of her wanted to believe that she could puzzle this out on her own — she'd overcome far worse odds before — so it genuinely didn't occur to her that Snuffles was debating assisting her by showing off some magic of his own, in his own way.
Noticing the intense concentration on his face, Sabrina took a step back to give him room. Whatever Snuffles was planning, she highly doubted he wanted someone staring intently at him while he did it, mainly because she knew she wouldn't appreciate that.
Gasping as he bit down on his paw, Sabrina had to stop herself from interfering, accepting that this was a deliberate action on Snuffles' part, and that he must have known what he was doing. She couldn't help but wince when he tore one of his claws off, the blood making her ready a minor healing spell for when he was done. When all was said and done, and his bloody claw was buried in a mound of dirt with more of his blood swiped on top of it, she shook her head as amazement tinged her tone. "Wow Snuffles, who knew you were a bit of a scientist too?"
Crouching down in front of him once again, Sabrina held her hand out with a gesture at his injured paw, hoping Snuffles would trust her enough to let her heal him.
