"One of us had to think about the 'whys'," Remus returned with an equally small smile, though his focus had to remain on the magic he was spinning to support the barrier and it's defenders. In some ways, it was almost painful to have James so close after so many years alone, so many years separating Remus from those events, those losses.
Not that this was the time to be thinking about it. They had a town to protect and people to help keep their families safe. Like during the war and, more importantly, the years following after, there was a chance to really help people who were being mistreated simply because they were different. Remus couldn't let his own emotions and history get in the way here.
"Yeah, I've got this." Remus wove the threads of the lattice work as he spoke, but nodded his head in the direction of the latest rumble. "Go on ahead and set the runes. I'll be right behind you as soon as I'm done anchoring this here."
