Re: James | Remus
The earth vibrated beneath his feet as another shockwave hit the barrier further down while Remus continued to weave the threads of magic across to the second anchor point James had created. He overlaid the spells gently on top of the existing spellwork, close enough power could be syphoned from it, yet without being close enough to interfere with the spells holding the barrier up. When he reached the second rune, he repeated the process from before, casting his charm around James' magic to ground the net before lacing a second spell from the anchor to the growing lattice.
"As long as the barrier holds, I'd wager they give up soon enough. They've lost the element of surprise," he called back to James. They might even be testing it, looking for weaknesses, hoping that the more they bombard the barrier, the higher chance it will fall. If they could keep the barrier from falling under this onslaught, they should be able to give the locals time to reinforce it before the next attack.
And there would probably be a next attack.
"I don't know the specifics, but I can guess. The people here are different. They have powers others want. It's the same story told in a hundred different wars across the ages." In a way, wasn't that why his kind were so persecuted in the their own world? They were different?
