Re: James | Remus
Remus hadn't even thought twice about it. As soon as he understood what was going on, he'd found Prongs. They were strong and capable wizards, they should do what they could for these people. Arriving at the barrier, he had the thought in the back of his mind that something had been off with James when he first grabbed for him, but they didn't have time to get into that just then.
Instead, while James looked for runes, Remus studied the magic before them. He could feel the way the energies moved, even if he didn't know the exact spells used. It was just a matter of making sure their magic didn't disrupt what had been cast. Something on this scale was a delicate balance of various spells and charms cast over years, maybe centuries, by multiple casters. They could do more harm than good if they blundered in with something too incompatible.
"Power augmentation," he replied, squatting down next to James. "We add neutral wells of energy the existing spells can pull from, that the native casters can use to power the spells that built it. Let the people who know the magic here direct it, while we give them the extra power to sustain it."
