Re: Ariel/Cal
"The order teaches that yes. We are talking about the order as a whole still, and not me personally, yes?" Because his case is quite unique. "Regardless, yes, Jedi are trained not to have emotional attachments, but that doesn't mean you can't care for a people and feel for their plight. Just because I'm not supposed to get attached, doesn't mean children starving doesn't make me feel. It's more of knowing those emotions and reallocating them." To someone outside the order, wasn't going to necessarily understand. He'd never imagine someone from a another time and place to fully understand when those in his existence treated it as some religion themselves.
"I think you're focused on the Republic governing solely. Each planet governs itself, and each nation or tribe or whatever on the planet governs itself. The Republic was a grouping of all these planets coming together." He shook his head. "I'm not a politician or solely intertwined in the inter-workings- so I apologize if I'm explaining poorly." Regardless, Cal was getting tired of defending his livelihood to some Princess of some small nation or underwater civilization. It had felt some form of attack after another.
"It's hardly fate." Cal commented. "It's guidance, yes, but it's not stopping me from making my own choices." Though she still received a look of puzzlement. Wasn't that what she basically said was her case? "I never insinuated that the way I was taught was the way, the same that your way of governing wasn't the way to govern. I have only explained my way of life, and the way I was brought up and lived. The government in which I lived under, and the good they tried to do." He paused. "If I'm not mistaken, you were the one that questioned the legitimacy of the way the Republic functioned. I also only stated you were welcome to believe what you wished to believe in, because I wasn't here to sway your mind." He shook his head.
Standing, because he was honestly done with this conversation at this point. Politics were never going to be his forte. "We make our own paths, and decisions. Fate is or isn't real, I can't say. All I know, that I have something that helps guide me when I'm in search of answers." He offered a warm smile, because despite everything, he was still pleased to meet Ariel. The discussion had left him with some things to think on. "It was lovely to meet you, Ariel, I do hope you enjoy the rest of the party." With that he excused himself with a slight bow.
