Re: Ariel/Cal
The eagerness was warming. Ariel couldn't have been older and if she was, not much than he was, and her desire to learn so much was amazing. He almost had to admire it and strive to get to her level. "You're not wrong. At times, there is just the need to see the person in the flesh."
"Well, each planet had it's own local government- but there is, well, there was the greater Republic. That was before the Empire seized power." There was a pang of pain in his voice, but he moved on. "It's just better as a whole, if everyone were to strive for peace and peaceful outcomes. War is far too blood and painful on the soul."
"It's a saying." Cal muttered taking note of her aversion to farming ocean life. "It just means, if you teach a person to fend and care for themselves, they can do the same for next generations and rely less on the power that taught them." Cal shrugged. The Jedi often did that during the war. Taught civilizations to defend themselves but also be better. Jedi never war mongered, but innocent lives shouldn't be spilled.
"That's awfully young?" Cal questioned genuinely curious. "We're not allowed marriage or attachments. It's said to lead us down the dark side." Cal commented. "I'm not so sure I believe that, but the Force works in it's own way. How it guides." He shrugged casually. "Well, if you're ever feeling lonely, let me know, we can have tea and talk until you're feeling better." He offered with a wide smile.
Cal held up his hand in protest. "I mustn't. I am also afraid I don't know many songs of my own people and home." Actually, he was almost certain the Jedi didn't have any songs. "But if you want to go sing, I'll cheer you on."
