Steve/Yelena
Was Alexei a good father? Yelena was hesitant in giving her answer for that. She supposed he and Melina did the best they could under the circumstances. In the end, her response was similar to the one they once gave to her and Natasha.
"He had his faults, but for two deep undercover Russian agents, they did pretty good as parents."
Of course, delivering them to Dreykov to be trained in the Red Room not withstanding, but she and Natasha were always bound for the Red Room. She came to find out that infant girls in the Soviet Union at that time were assessed for their genetic potential. After which they were put through the rigors of the Black Widow program and still only about 1 in 20 survived the progress. She was lucky to be alive. She knew Alexei was a proud papa for that, even if his pride had been in the wrong things, like how tough they were in the face of the tortures and how many people they could kill after becoming Widows.
Steve had a good sense of who Natasha really was underneath all the stoicism and bluster. He really did know her as a person. An individual. He recognized that someone didn't need to have superpowers to run with superheroes. Yelena instantly gave him more kudos for that.
She pretended to deeply consider this, then grinned. "Well, okay, I suppose I can wait to hear his side of the story first."
