"She was," John agreed with a quiet nod. "Mom was the strongest person I knew. Only thing she couldn't beat was cancer. When you arrived, the version of the conductor Derek shot? It looked like my mother from when I was like twelve." The bus was still very lucky it was Derek that had taken care of her because John would have taken her apart like a trip-eight to see how much tech was actually in there.
"Makes sense. All the romance languages have the same ancient origins." It was, perhaps, a sign of how not normal his life had been that he didn't even blink at the idea of her being in prison. His mother had been in a psych hospital for telling the truth about machines from the future, after all.
"I don't know. It's possible. We know it can be hacked...at least in part. A couple people who have since been sent back managed to hack the holodeck and reprogram it a few months ago. I've managed to get a decent way into the systems, although there's a lot more I haven't gotten into, yet." Pressing his lips together, he shook his head. They just didn't know enough about how this bus worked and they were pretty much at it's mercy. "But, for now, I'm pretty sure we've got the spare parts we need here to fix this, if you're up for a basic electronics lesson." Once they had that done, he'd go find Stark -- if the man hadn't come into the lab by then -- and see what his thoughts on the matter were.
