She bent down a little so that she could see what he was pointing at. "Wicked," she said softly. "Did you learn how to do all of this by yourself?"
"Yeah, gotta love the priorities of the average American teenager," she said with a snort. She hadn't been able to relate to kids her age before she became a Slayer, so after that, she'd really had no chance. Maybe if more kids were like John, she might have stayed in school longer. "That's where being a Slayer comes in, yeah. Whether it's computers trying to wipe out humanity or ancient vampires wanting to keep them like herds of cows, it all ends up the same, though, with people being wiped out."
That's really what made them similar. They walked around with a huge weight on their shoulders, knowing that they had to protect the world like that.
