Ariel sighed. That just meant that they didn't know if everyone was on board, only that they hoped they were. "I'm glad you are here," she said with a smile, because Ariel truly was happy for every life that was saved, even if she didn't know the person well. She reached over and squeezed Faith's hand. "I'm sure the bus pulled everyone on board." She had to believe it, even though she knew how close she had come to dying. If anyone had been deeper into the ocean, even the bus wouldn't have helped.
She shook her head. "I won't be needing a towel, but thank you. If you want to go, you can ask one of those very muscular men if they can come and help me upstairs. Or maybe one of the wizards. They can hold my hand and just bring me places," she said, trying to laugh, but it fell flat.
"We lost an entire civilization," she said softly. "I know that there are probably hundreds of similar realities, but these people died and it doesn't matter that there are other version of them. We need to do better."
