RP: Hearing the Good News
Characters: Astoria Greengrass, Theodore Nott, possibly Draco Malfoy? Place: the Greengrass manor Date: mid-June 1999 Summary: Theo hears about Astoria's impending engagement.
Astoria Greengrass had just finished school- her very last year ever- and instead of starting her own clothing design business as she'd been wanting to do, she was getting married. Salazar. And to Draco Malfoy, on top of that.
She had known there was a chance that she would have to get married to someone her parents had chosen for her, being the youngest daughter and therefore a brood mare for auction, but she hadn't expected it to be so soon. And she'd also expected them to marry Daphne off first, although the fiasco that had occurred the last time they'd tried to contract her had probably put them off.
But she didn't want to be Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy's daughter-in-law, even if it was now en vogue to support the Minstry (while still being quietly disdainful of Muggleborns, of course). She didn't want to be anyone's daughter-in-law. She wanted to be a business owner, and run her own life.
She hadn't said anything to her parents, though, playing the dutiful daughter and doing everything that was asked of her. Even losing weight so that she could fit into her wedding robes, although she hated the way that the rest of her clothes fit. But her mother wanted the altered robes she had worn at her wedding to be worn by her youngest daughter, so lose weight she did. She was down to just eating salad and drinking water with every meal. Hmph. She missed chicken.
Oh, there it was. The sound of her mother going out shopping for her attendents' robes. Perfect.
Sliding out of her room, Astoria tiptoed down the stairs and into the study to find something to read, waving at Daphne, who was in a chair working on something- probably for her job in the Department of Mysteries.
