Deah wasn't interested in soothing the mutant or dealing with Gambits tantrum for that matter. "Disgusted?" She mumbled, then laughed to herself. "You are important, you are important to science." She poked up at Clarice's head, "I know you don't know how important your DNA is...how special it is. I'm interested in finding out just how unique you really are."
"It is the child in man that is the source of his uniqueness and creativeness, and the playground is the optimal milieu for the unfolding of his capacities and talents," she wheeled around and responded to Gambit's warning. "Wickedness is a myth invented by good people to account for the curious attractiveness of others. Or I think James Morrow puts it best: 'Curiosity may have killed the cat, but lack of curiosity would have killed thousands.'"
Returning her attentions back to Clarice, she pulled out a small light and shined it in her eyes to observe the dilation of her pupils. However, she continued to speak to Gambit. "Money is just money...if you were smarter, you wouldn't do things you didn't want to do and then blame others for it. You'll be back," she dismissed. "You always are."
"You're curious about Dr. Essex? He's a brilliant man. When did you sleep last? And for how long?" Deah asked now armed with pencil ready to record her answers. "Would you say you are tired?"
