Struggling Characters: Noah "Kinesis" Simons. Location: The Mansion, his room. Timeline: Present. Description: Noah is frustrated and thinking too much.
The frustrating thing is that Noah can string a twelve string guitar and play notes most people can only imagine but he cannot control this ability; cannot grasp its common thread and guide its movements. He tries – Lord knows he tries – but it seems like the more he tries the harder it gets and the more he fails.
He hates it. Hates that he has this power and yet he lacks the simple common knowledge and control. He figures it should be like learning anything, comes through practice and yet… he just cannot wrap his head around it.
Maybe he’s thinking too much – he does that. Maybe he needs to let go and just let it happen? Noah’s trying to figure out how one does that, how you just let go and let something else take you over. He’s never had a lot of control in his life, ferried from one home to another and subjected to new rules and new people. He never wants to lose control again. But maybe it’s the one thing he needs to do if he wants to understand this ability of his?
Not that worrying about his powers is going to get him through a thirty page essay that’s due in two days time. He’s been distracted, busy worrying himself into an early grave. Just needs to focus again and get his work out of the way, be a good student and take advantage of the benefits he has while being at the institute.
It’s as simple as putting earphones into his ears and turning pen to paper for the words to flow and for the knowledge to come. If only it was so easy with his powers.
He’ll finish his homework then turn his attention to his guitar and looking at the empty bed in his room, wondering if he’s ever going to get a roommate or he’ll be stuck like this for the rest of his tenure at the mansion.
But things can change in the blink of an eye and Noah knows that better than anyone else.
