The blend of scents grew stronger with each step and Angel started picking out more details among the aroma of rich earth and fear. Who ever he was following was a girl; no... wait, not a girl, a woman. Scared and nervous.
There had been a time when that combinations of smells had been his favourite perfume, one he'd go to great lengths to savour. Building the tension, setting the stage, stalking his chosen victim for days, sometimes weeks at at time, all the while revealing in growing intoxication of that sweet fragrance.
A hand pressed against his stomach to push away a brief pang of hunger as he continued to track the mystery woman behind the scent.
The sliver of a head poked into view a few dozen feet ahead, dishevelled dark brown locks and matching umber eyes peered at him around the corner of some unknown building. He stopped, drew a breath, and-
"I'm a human."
"What?" Angel asked his watcher, or rather the empty space where what little he'd seen of her had been a moment ago before disappearing from sight after her unexpected confession. 'Help' 'Stop' 'Thank God' 'Stay Away' or even just a wordless scream, those were more along the lines of what he'd been expecting, not a declaration of species.
