Sirius laughed and said ‘Ow!’ at the same time, which sounded amusing and whiny, all in the same. He made a funny face at James as he sat up and rubbed the side of his arm that was pushed by James. In retaliation he made sure to smear some of his dirty shoes on James’s pillow.
Sirius gave Remus a shake of his head and a confused look. “But if you need to tell us something, you can just…you know… tell us. On the rare chance we are not around, you can just tell us when we are. Right? I really don’t…..waitaminute.” Before Sirius could whine anymore, or even complain that the pit of hell reserved for boys who did research in the Library was a serious punishment, he got all quiet and blank faced- and strung up to sit straightly. Obviously it was a moment of Sirius thinking; metaphoric wheels turning in his mind. Then his eyebrows shot up and his eyes got all wide.
“We’d be able to talk to each other from all sorts of odd places. Think about the potential. If one of us is in detention. Or one of us is hiding out in the Dungeons as look out. Or in Hogsmeade! We’d be able to breech all sorts of barriers this way. That’d be brilliant. We could operate better should one of us be away. How close are you on all that, Remus?”
Of course the other thing going on in Sirius’s head was not lost, and he gave James a large smile; something evil brimming the edges altogether. “We have a very important opportunity. It would besmirch our very names to not take up the opportunity. What exactly should we do, though? You say Hooch wouldn’t let you stay around?”
